A quick visit 22 & 23 July 2017

Just back from our France trip on Wednesday, and a quick trip to Inglewood on the weekend.

But first, we had to go to Adams' memorial celebration in Gisborne - which was on the way.

Was quite sad, but lovely too, had a few speakers who were excellent.

It was in his big shed, and was freezing (biting cold wind, and we were still acclimatizing, as we had just come back from 3 weeks of Northern Hemisphere Summer) - but they had heaters

Got to Inglewood (with Alex too) around 4.30 or so, went and bought some some lovely free range eggs quickly from David, (he's closed on Sundays) and also said hello to Denise.

We weren't sure what we were going to do for dinner, maybe the pub, maybe Gee Gees, but I felt inspired to cook, felt like making something French

So went to the IGA and bought some beef, and made a delicious Burgundy Beef which I slow cooked in the oven., and had with mashed potatoes and a green salad.

Had dips and biscuits on the veranda before dinner (had become a nice day, and the howling wind had settled down)

Justin had set up the manor table in the upstairs room, so that we could have a fire there, and then watch a movie.

Worked well - so we'll probably buy some chairs for this table

Watched a movie (can't remember which one), but I was falling asleep (still a little jet-lagged I suppose) - so I went to bed well before the end

Also had a sleep in on Sunday, and it was nice and warm and cosy in bed, very hard to get up

Had breakfast out in the sun, and then I thought I'd make some plum chilli jam with the plums that I still had in the spare fridge

And Justin did a bit more work on the cupboard doors

I also showed the French knife and fork set that I had bought in Les Mees, to Denise to see if she had any ideas as to how to clean/fix them up.

She suggested either Brasso, or soapy jex.  She put a bit of Brasso on it, and one and it came up a treat.

The garden was also looking very green, Gordon had been and poisoned some of the perimeter weeds, and the almonds will soon be in bloom, and the jonquils are already out
