Well, Nick said that he'd start underpinning in mid August, and he pretty much did - started on 23 August, and was finished by 2 September
I also asked him to take some photos as he went along
Basically he dug out 8 holes for pins - 4 in the kitchen and 4 outside. And all of this digging was by hand. Easy enough to begin, given all of the rain, but the ground must have been very hard the lower they went
I was very impressed with his work, he took away all the fill (hopefully with not too much gold in it)
